I think that the pain would not just go away or turn into strength. there should be someone to give support, otherwise that person would feel depressed and will never gain any strength.

I find it ironic that people over seventeen do not need prescriptions for Plan B, while people under seventeen do- wouldn't you think that the younger the girl, the less likely she would be to be able to safely tell her parents not only that she is sexually active, but that she may be pregnant? Adults should have no qualms about asking their doctors for a prescription, whereas young girls in a bind are far less apt to be able to initiate a conversation of that nature.

Responsible sexual activity should be promoted and practiced by everybody- I am in complete agreement with you in that regard. However, are you aware of how insufficient and ineffective sexual education is in schools across America? Many a teenager, due to no fault of his or her own, is unequipped to effectively prevent pregnancy. If you want to stop the necessity of abortion, I suggest that you find a way of educating all youths in how to prevent pregnancy- quite a feat. Hopefully, one day this will be a reality and abortions will no longer be a means of terminating unintended pregnancies, but I would vouch to say that it is more humane for an uneducated teenager to get an abortion than to raise an underprivileged child.

Secondly, abortions are not only the consequence of unintended pregnancy; a responsible and educated adult can willingly become pregnant and then face unexpected circumstances which hinder her from taking care of a child.

And yes, for the record, there is a scientific distinction between a baby and a zygote. During the first 9 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus can feel no pain and has no brain activity. It weighs less than 8 grams and its organs do not function.

Also, the Plan B prescription should be available over the counter for anyone regardless of age. It's definitely false if we say that adolescent would more likely to have unprotected sex because adolescent would not always have the money to get the Plan B over the counter. Plan B cost around $35-$50 and it's expensive for them! Either way, they still have to think for at least twice before having an unprotected sex.
If they wanted to use their medicaid to purchase Plan B, they would have to see their doctor couple of weeks or even months after.
And as we all know, Plan B would be the best if taken the first couple days after sex. So what's the point seeing a doctor couple of weeks after to get the Plan B?
Wake up people!

I think this is very interesting Morgan because I have been a witness of these kinds of conversations in the train. This goes to show that words can be hurtful and that sometimes people do not think about what they say because of the hatred and feelings towards issues like LGBT, etc.

I don't agree that ending a life to avoid inconvenience is something a civilized people would do. And, please stop saying that killing a child is an answer to any problem. Including, poor parenting environments. People used incest, rape and health of the mother to work on the sympathies of voters. What percentage of abortions have been perfromed because of inconvenience? We have a perceived population overage and we have stooped to Speciesism to deal with the issue. No? Terminate a Condor egg (Zygote?) and you'll be in prision.

Abortion isn't necessary. Responsible sexual activity, is. We have sacrificed the potentials of millions of children (Zygotes?) in the name of self-centered motives. Pointing out that other cultures breed without restraint doesn't make a case for abortion. It makes the case that, as a group, humans are short-sighted and undisciplined. Saying that humans are unable to control or channel our sexual impulses is like saying we should stop using tools and go back to our caves. We are better than that, for the sake of the unborn, we have to be better than that.

Your story is very touching Tamara. I have a son who was cyber-bullied and each day he was going through it I felt hopeless to help him. We finally got his school involved and we were able to enact anti-bullying codes at his school. Through the process we learned a lot of useful techniques including cyber safety that we found at http://onlineceucredit.com/edu/social-work-ceus-ib. Any family who has a child who is being cyber-bullied should check the website out.
